I set up a diary tab to record my experiences with the Clarisonic which I bought at Pro Beauty. This is the second installment to be turned into a post:
Sunday 13th March - Went back to using the REN CC3 with the Clarisonic tonight. Not wishing to risk the other cleanser. Really careful not to let the bristles catch my cheeks and only did the first 40 seconds forehead, nose, chin.
Tuesday 15th March - Nice crop of spots come up on my forehead. Hoping this is the Clarisonic bringing out stuff that's been sitting there for an age - one of the reasons I wanted the thing in the first place - my bumpy forehead.
Thursday 17th March - The area that came up as a patch last week is peeling. Had to rub it off gently as it looked quite dreadful with makeup over it.
Wednesday 23rd March am - A couple more uses on the nose, chin and forehead only under my belt. Still using the REN CC3 but have found it necessary to step up the moisture levels after use. Where as an oil alone was fine before now I need a moisturiser on top on the days I've used the Clarisonic.
Wednesday 23rd March pm - Interesting conversation tonight with Fiona Brackenbury from Decleor - She suggested once a week with my skin! The Clarisonic is getting less like a cleansing method and more like a treatment for me. Definitely something that is not being considered enough by the manufacturers I feel. Certainly the sales guy I had a good long chat with at Pro Beauty gave no hint of this. I'm still happy to own it for such purposes, but I'd be seriously cross if I'd paid full price.
I'm not going to say I told you so ;) I do think the marketing of this tool as suitable for constant use for everyone is wrong.
ReplyDelete@Grace London - It has to be said that if we'd had that conversation the week before I'd bought it instead of the one after, I would have been unlikely to go ahead. Just very very glad we did or my skin would have been knackered.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with you about the marketing.
Especially as I've just checked the business card of the chap who 'sold' it to me, and he's Director International Operations
You may get on better with the "delicate" bristles, rather than the "sensitive" head.
ReplyDeleteI have both changed my brush head to delicate and downgraded my usage to once a day, and it works much better for me. The sensitive brush head and using twice a day was definitely too much for my skin - and causing a little redness, which I found quite annoying.
Things are much better now, but the sensitive brush is much too harsh for actual sensitive skins to use too often, I think.
@Get Lippie - It's the Delicate head I've been using - think I need to get them to invent a super delicate one! Although it may have been the Clarisonic cleanser my skin really didn't like the other week, I have got an irritation patch on my chin now and I haven't used that cleanser since. I'm still keen to give the Clarisonic time to perform. I just think there is a big difference between buying something to use every day and finding that actually it's going to be once a week at most that's best for your skin.
ReplyDeleteI had really wanted one of these but when I read up on it I had a feeling that for my skin even the most delicate head would be too harsh, can only use a sensitive skin scrubby scrub if I buffer it with a good dollop of cleansing balm, shame it's not all you had hoped for your daily cleaning but may turn out to be perfect as a weekly treatment. Really helpful to read a detailed review on skin thats quite similar to mine.
