Illamasqua's SS11 collection Toxic Nature reflects the unpredictability that nature brings......and then some!.....distortions of the natural.....radioactive.....toxic......
Bringing her painterly love Alex says:
"Having an artistic background highly influenced this collection. The medium of paint when it is in various states (mixed on a palette, on a canvas, the colours mutating when you wash your brushes) inspired the product colours of Toxic Nature. Blends, washes, dabs, drips, daubs and splashes of colour are evident in the imagery of the collection"
Introducing Cream Pigments:
“I don’t think we have ever created a product that is as hard working as Cream Pigment. They can correct or enhance, disguise or reveal. I am obsessed with their versatility; blush, lips, eyes, contouring … they are absolutely my favourite product right now. Super-blendable, they can be pressed and blended into skin or slicked on for graphic shapes. Education is key with the pigments. Once you have learnt how to master them, you can control their impact.” – Alex Box, Creative Director
“The versatile and multitasking formula has an intense colour payoff that provides additional adhesion and intensification when applied before Powder Eye Shadows and Pure Pigments. The product can be used as a sheer wash or built to full coverage.” – David Horne, Director of New Product Development
Yes I did run out into the street to do it :p
Swatches from left to right
Bedaub – This mint green is a wonderful eye base, and is flattering on all skintones.
Emerge – This peach brightens under eye shadows and is beautiful as a highlighter on olive – darker skintones. It’s also a very flattering blusher on paler skin tones.
Dab – This gentle lilac is beautiful for eyes lips and cheeks, especially for a 60s look.
Mould – Because every Spring collection needs a touch of darkness, this grape is stunning as a base for a smoky eye or intense, statement lip.
Hollow – This toffee shade is perfect as a contour on paler skintones. It also works brilliantly as an eye shadow base on olive – darker skintones.
Looking forward to playing with some of these .

I apparently forgot to photograph this last night. But you can still see an amazing amount of pink shimmer today. Even after much hand washing.
Loving it!
This post is bought to you by the power of Blogger, which lost half the post and kept moving the photos which means it has taken all morning to write and I'm quite cross.

Yikes, not wishing to add to your crossness but you didn't write anything about the last cream pigment, the one after Hollow (and the only one I think I could wear!!). Or maybe you did and blogger ate it!! I have no clue how you are supposed to use something like this so a tutorial at some point would be fab, if you fancy doing a "cream pigment for dummies" post and incorporating the pigments into a "normal" day look I would be really interested to read that!!
ReplyDelete@Debbie - You are right - it is gone - I don't have the guts to go back in and risk it messing up again....Even told the OH to levae off spellings!
ReplyDeleteHere's the missing info:
Delirium – This rose taupe shade is fantastic for contouring pale – olive skin tones, as well as healthy flush to all skintones as a blusher and as a soft lip colour.
It's one of the colours I recived so you'll definitely be hearing more about it!
x
Fab thanks, Rose Taupe sounds very much like my kind of colour!
ReplyDeleteaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa love love love it xx
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are stunning and really capture what we saw. In my eagerness to play, I have dipped in to products before taking pictures. How naughty of me! Debbie, you really would like Delirium, it's one of my favourites of course ;) x
ReplyDeleteThis collection has you written all over it - I can't wait to see some wicked FOTD's!
ReplyDeleteWow! All I can say is WOW! I got the promo info for this and was very curious to see swatches. WOW!
ReplyDeleteThose cream pigments sound awesome and look so good :O and I must have that magenta lipgloss!
ReplyDelete@liloo - Isn't it just!
ReplyDelete@Jane - I'm mostly very strict on that. Also I'm trying to be more MUA like and decant rather than using straight out of the pot when I get new emolient based products now. Look forward to your post.
@Skin Scrubs - Hehe! Looking forward to playing.
@Lacquer Ware for Tips and Toes - I always think what can the do to beat the last collection - and they blow me away.
@SilhouetteScreams - Really interested to compare the to the craem shadows. They are supposed to be a whole lot more crease resistant - as much as a emolient formula can be.
