Pro Beauty London - Not for the faint hearted!

If you've been to IMATS or heard stories about the crowds, well that's nothing in comparison to Pro Beauty. I arrived at 2pm on Sunday and the place was heaving. Huge and heaving. ExCeL makes Alexandra Palace look like a doll's house, in fact it reminds me most of an airport.

Unlike IMATS, which is open to all, Pro Beauty is an industry Expo, designed to give salon owners the chance to check out brands and services.

Professional Beauty Exhibitions attracts decision makers from across the beauty industry, to learn, be inspired, and do hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of business. The exhibitions are free to attend for all beauty trade and students (including Level 1s). These shows provide a unique forum for proving and testing product value in a more effective way than products can be demonstrated and tested live.

I noticed beforehand, that people could schedule appointments in advance with brand reps. Which I can see would be essential given how busy some of the brands were. Put it this way, Pro Beauty have said that visitor numbers reaching 33515 over two days!! If I thought Sunday was bad, Monday which is student day, was just manic.

There were a huge range of brands represented, over 400 including lots of nails, tanning, facial care and fish pedicure, although not many makeup brands as this is a relatively new area in salons. I took random pics, things that interested me or I could get a good shot of and lots didn't come out well at all. So it's an eclectic mix. Enjoy!

One of the many entrances to the Pro Beauty hall can be seen on the left - it's pink

It was great to chat to Colin Laphan CEO of ArtDeco Couture amongst a stand besiged by customers. He takes a very down to earth approach, working as part of the team and was full of helpful insights into the industry.

Also great to catch a couple of brief hellos with @CarolineHirons and Daniel Sandler on the Beauty Alliance stand.

The queues, at brands like Elemis, OPI and Sweet Squared made them virtually unapproachable.

Éminence Organic Skin Care really caught my attention, they are a Hungarian Company establishedi n 1958.

Éminence Organic Skin Care delivers the highest quality natural skin care to leading salons, spas and their clients. Our active products are created using European certified premium quality herbs, fruits, and flower buds, and are proudly free of Parabens, Mineral Oils, Petroleum and Sodium Lauryl Sulphate.

All those wonderful colours are totally natural.

I admire a natural product that looks and smells natural whilst still striving to be the best. They are very proud of their green credentials and offer information and a program to help owners become greener too.

Fabulous to catch up with Aromatherapy Associates in the flesh!

Another natural ingredients company, this time with a focus on providing disadvantaged women with a livelihood

I had a fascinating chat with a representative from Thalgo, about the uses of marine algae and discovered that they monitor their environmental impact on algae levels by satellite.

Ella Baché which were acquired by Thalgo in 2003

A contemporary of Estée Lauder and Helena Rubinstein, Ella Baché was a pioneer in skincare innovation.
