Murad Anti-Ageing Blemish Regime

When it comes to reviewing skincare, I've always been convinced that using it for about a month at least before reviewing is essential. I also like to only change one thing at a time, unless, like here, it's to a complete new regime. What this has meant, especially over the last 6 months, with changes to the amount of time I've had available for blogging, is that reviews can stay on the drawing board rather too long. On the other hand this does mean you get a thoroughly tested opinion.

The Murad Anti-Ageing Acne system, is one that I've never actually used for a consecutive month of days, I have however been playing with it for the best part of a year. As I don't have any continuous acne problems I very quickly found that using all three products together proved to be to harsh for my skin. The feel of the Time Release Blemish Cleanser was quite tightening and I'm inclined to feel this one is very much for the more severe acne sufferer. I left off using it quite quickly only revisiting it once or twice were I felt there seemed to be a lot of potential for breakouts rumbling below the surface.

For every day, I much prefer Murad's Essential-C Cleanser which has been a staple in my skincare regime since discovering it in the In Style magazine giveaway this time last year.

The Blemish & Wrinkle Reducer and Anti-Ageing Moisturiser SPF 20 however, I have become a big fan of and would heartily recommend for anyone who, like me sufferes from the occasional breakout. All 3 products have a 24month shelf time once open, which makes them ideal for dipping in and out of when necessary. The Blemish & Wrinkle Reducer is designed to be massaged in a thin layer over the face, neck and chest.

Clinically proven dual-function formula reduces blemishes while minimising fine lines and wrinkles.
Kombucha Collagen Defense™ stimulates collagen production while significantly diminishing its breakdown. With optimal collagen levels restored, skin regains a healthy resilience, fullness and improved barrier function strength.
Marine Kelp Extract provides instant lifting and firming
Willow Bark Extract, Silver and encapsulated Salicylic Acid constitute a multi-active blemish-fighting system that penetrates deep to clear blemishes and eliminate breakouts

In addition to the recommended method however, I have come to regard it as the best spot treatment I've used. Applied as and where needed this deals with spots in short shift without damaging the surrounding skin. For this reason I am very much in love with this product.

Active Ingredients:

The Anti-Ageing Moisturiser SPF20, I use on days where I feel something may be brewing, occasionally in conjunction with the Blemish & Wrinkle Reducer. Moisturisation levels are, on the whole good for my increasingly dry skin, though some days, particularly over the winter I really need a bit more. A tester sample of Murad's Hydro-Dynamic™ Ultimate Moisture fitted the bill nicely on these days.

  1. This is a really helpful review, thankyou Helen. It is interesting that a brand has acknowledged that skin can be challenged in the spotty area but also in the ageing area (ie me on occassions!).
